Toymaker: AMF/Wen-Mac

AMF/Wen-Mac, a division of Los Angeles-based American Machine & Foundry (AMF) Company, produced two large (16-inch) motorized Mustangs in the mid-60s - a 1966 Poppy Red Mustang Coupe and a 1967 Turquoise Mustang Fastback. They sold through Ford dealers for $6 and, during the Christmas season, $4.95. The standard set-up for both cars was a battery-powered electric motor, but an optional gas engine conversion kit could be ordered for $2.50. The kit included a gasoline engine and slicks. A remote-control throttle could also be added.
