Toymaker: Other

This page is set aside for tin Mustang toys that are of unknown origin, or tin cars that aren't necessarily vintage but are often mistaken as such.

Their Toys

Model: 1972 Mustang Fastback

Power: Friction

Length: 9 inches

Description: This turquoise Mustang was made in China. By whom and when is a mystery. The only clues the car and its box provide are a model number and a maker's mark. OK, detectives, if you know who produced this car and when, please let us know!

Model: See-through Mustang Fastback

Power: Friction

Length: 5.5 inches

Description: This interesting car features a green tinted plastic fastback body over a tin base and tin lithographed interior. Throw on a set of molded plastic wheels and you have another mystery car. There is no maker's mark anywhere on the car, though it is likely Japanese.

Model: Mustang II Highway Patrol

Power: Battery

Length: 9 inches

Description: Closely resembling a Daishin Mustang, this Mustang II Highway Patrol Car features "Bump'N Go Action" and two blinking red roof lights. The box and car indicate they were made in Taiwan and feature a maker's mark that I am unfamiliar with. This car was produced as tin toy making in Japan was coming to an end and production was shifting to lower cost labor markets in Taiwan and China.
